Multihull 2024: The six winners

The winners of the 2024 edition of the Multihull of the Year were announced last night. Electric propulsion shipyards are in the limelight. Among the winners are Windelo with its Windelo 54 and another 'newcomer', Vaan from the Netherlands, with its all-aluminium catamaran, the Vaan R5.

Multihull 2024: The six winners

IMS Premiere category: The New Windelo 54 has won an award in a category that rewards brand new models. It's a strike for the New 54, which incorporates the highly accomplished systems of its predecessors, the first truly convincing hybrid catamarans. Windelo's perfectly measured development is exemplary, with the company becoming structured and set to employ more than 100 people over the course of the year. With its successful concept, friendly, high-performance team, top-level build quality and aviation-style quality control, Windelo has a long way to go.

Cruising Sailboat category: The Vaan R5 was named winner, a prize that underlines the concept of this very beautiful 15-metre all-aluminium boat, packed with recyclable or recycled materials, and featuring an interior layout that could be called Scandinavian, made of noble materials that are not flashy and perfectly implemented. The boat is powered by two Oceanvolt electric saildrives, represented in France by E-Nave Sysyems.

Sailing category: The Outremer 52 continues to win all the awards. Combining speed and manoeuvrability, comfort and habitability, the Outremer 52 is a success, with order books overflowing. A beautiful catamaran that represents Outremer at the top of its game.

Multipower category: A long-range diesel catamaran (2500 NM), the Iliad 53F wins the Multipower category. A hotly contested category. Sponsored by Noval, this category rewards a multihull that stands out for its power and ability to sail long distances. The Iliad 53F has a breathtaking owner's suite with a panoramic view and a huge double bed.

Multiyacht category: The GUNBOAT 72, with its cruising orientation but without giving up performance, this Gunboat remains very sharp, all carbon. At nearly 20 knots under sail, you're going to have to keep your cap on on the flybridge.

Capt'n Boat category: The CATANA 471 has been chosen by the professional skippers who are members of the Capt'n Boat platform as their favourite pre-owned multihull, a way of paying tribute to the brand and its founder. Catana catamarans are elegant, fast and robust cruising catamarans that are in great demand on the second-hand market.
