At 10:32 this morning at the Yachting Festival, the worst was avoided in the basin of the Vieux Port in Cannes.

A fire broke out on board the SwanShadow, the latest luxury yacht from the Finnish shipyard Swan, when thick smoke billowed out of the engine hold vents.

The boat show's security service was incredibly quick to remove the SwanShadow from its berth and tow it to the middle of the dock, in order to avoid any contagion to other boats exhibited at the show, fire being the risk most feared by the organisers, given the exceptional concentration of boats at the show.

In the end, the SwanShadow was extricated from the port thanks to the efficiency of its fire system and the intervention of the fire brigade. No one was injured and the show went off without a hitch....
