The shipyard's refit division now covers an area of 24,000 m², enabling it to accommodate large vessels and mobilise a specialised team. Cantieri di Pisa has around twenty employees dedicated to this activity, with a planned expansion of around ten new professionals. Each project mobilises a workforce of between 200 and 300 people, including specialist subcontractors and technical experts.
To ensure the quality of its work, the company relies on a high-performance fleet of equipment, including a transport trolley and a 300-tonne travel lift. What's more, the ongoing dialogue between the Research & Development department and yacht captains ensures that processes are optimised and solutions adapted to the requirements of shipowners.
Cantieri di Pisa ‘s expertise extends to the transformation of composite and metallic materials, thanks in particular to its mastery of carbon fibre, polyester, steel and aluminium processing techniques. The yard also applies 45-degree welding processes, a common method in Northern European shipyards. This approach ensures high-quality renovation while complying with international certification standards.
The yachts currently undergoing refit at Cantieri di Pisa illustrate the diversity of the work carried out by the yard. The 43-metre sailing yacht Perini Navi, which arrived via the Canale dei Navicelli via Monaco broker Simonazzi Yachts, had to be dismasted to gain access to the site. The Benetti superyacht, meanwhile, is benefiting from a refit carried out in collaboration with the Ligurian company YOT, managed by Fortunato Di Marco and Alessandro Speziari.
One of the major strengths of the refit division is its rigorous adherence to initial costs and deadlines. Despite the uncertainties inherent in long-term projects, Cantieri di Pisa is careful to maintain the conditions established during the initial phases, thus avoiding budgetary drift for its customers.
According to Umberto Nannola, head of the refurbishment division, this approach enables the yard to attract homeowners from remote areas, who prefer the quality of services offered by Cantieri di Pisa rather than using facilities closer to home. This positioning is helping to strengthen the yard's reputation in the international superyacht refit market.
With sustained growth and recognised technical expertise, Cantieri di Pisa is establishing itself as a key player in the modernisation and maintenance of large yachts.
