Despite the will of Terre de Glisse to launch a third edition at All Saints' Day 2023, the Wave Games will no longer take place at La Torche. So we will not find immediately this 100% sliding competition, which should be hosted elsewhere for the next editions.
Indeed, this year, the community of commune of the South Bigouden Country did not wish to accompany a new edition of Wave Games in La Torche, in spite of two promising first editions. And although La Torche is a particularly convenient place to host such large events, Terre de Glisse preferred to withdraw since they no longer had the support of the community of commune.
But the Pointe de La Torche is also a "Natura 2000" classified site, so organizing events of this magnitude is not without its difficulties. And although the place was not damaged during the previous gatherings, it is possible that this was taken into consideration when the community of commune decided not to accompany the event anymore.
In spite of this, Terre de Glisse says they are "open" to the idea of organizing the Wave Games elsewhere in the near future. However, it will not be easy to find a place that allows the practice of the four disciplines and that can accommodate all the spectators.
"It is a page that is turning for the Wave Games after two superb editions on the tip of La Torche but I also imagine that other opportunities are opening up in terms of location. We have lived very strong moments thanks to this competition and we hope to see it again on other territories or in Finistère. It is clear that our country does not lack beautiful destinations that could host this kind of event. I am wholeheartedly behind the organization, Christophe and the whole team and I hope to see this beautiful competition again one day somewhere" confided Ben Carpentier, APP SUP Surf World Champion and SUP Longboard 2022 World Vice-Champion.
