Formentera Decktent, a transparent-bottomed tender

What's the point of a transparent-bottomed dinghy?

To look at the seabed, of course! For those who have not yet had the chance to experience a nautical excursion in the fishy waters of a reef, or for those who like to contemplate the sea and all that lives in it, or for those who like to drive their dinghy between the pebbles, at the risk of smashing their engine, Decktent's Formentera has thought of you...

Decktent is a company that specialises in inflatable biminis, structures that can be deployed in two minutes with the help of an electric inflator and which, as rigid as you like, can be used to shade a bridge without the need for an expensive stainless steel frame. After the biminis, Decktent is now offering a glass bottom dinghy.

This dinghy is available in five sizes (from two metres to 3.30 metres) with a polycarbonate bottom.

The large model has a carrying capacity of 540 kg, enough to make it the tender for a catamaran or cruising monohull.

The grumpy will criticise this bottom and its solidity. Nonsense! Polycarbonate is an extremely strong material used, among other things, to make ballistic goggles for armies and law enforcement agencies.

Here, a laminated polycarbonate composite is used for these transparent backs.

Capable of stopping shrapnel, it goes without saying that this polycarbonate will not shatter, even when thrown at full speed at a coral potato. No damage to the bottom, but it's the crew who'll be rocking!
