Mercury Fishing Cup 2024 - all tickets sold out online in just 2 hours!

Michel Polydor, President of the Fédération Française des Pêches Sportives (FFPS) Carnassier, made the announcement in our columns on 28 June, encouraging interested parties to register as soon as online registration opened at 5pm on Tuesday 9 July.

The facts proved him right, as all 80 places were sold out in just 2 hours!
As a result of this success, the organisers have had to increase the capacity to 100 crews.

The announcement was published the following day, Wednesday 10 July, at 6pm, on the FFPS/Carnassier and Mercury Marine France social networks. The second wave of entries opened at 8pm. In less than an hour this time, the 20 extra places were taken!

Alexandre Portheault, vice-president of the FFPS/Carnassier, told ActuNautique Yachting Art: ‘Whereas last year it took a few days to fill the entries for the first edition, this year it took less than two hours. We knew we were going to fill up quickly when we saw the enthusiasm, but not so quickly!’

Michel Polydor adds: ‘We've seen a real craze for competitions recently. We've also seen this with the Salmo Trek, organised, like the MFC, by the FFPS/Carnassier via its club The Artists.’

The Mercury Fishing Cup is the new format of the French championship for lure fishing for carnivorous fish from boats, organised by the Fédération Française des Pêches Sportives (FFPS) with Mercury Marine.

After Poses sur la Seine, in the Eure (27), it's the turn of Lac de Vassivière, straddling the Haute-Vienne (87) and Creuse (23), to host the MFC on 19 and 20 October. The winning duo will be crowned French Carnivore Boat Fishing Champions 2024, along with the MFC trophy and a cheque for €10,000.

Yann Diquerreau, Marketing Manager at Mercury Marine France and co-organiser of the Mercury Fishing Cup, explained that the event had benefited from exceptional visibility thanks to four months of sustained communication by Mercury. This initiative was shared by the Fédération Française des Pêches Sportives (FFPS), local federations, the Vassivière tourist office, competitors, partners and the fishing community led by Mercury fans and ambassadors.

The MFC is now considered to be the major carnivore fishing event of the year in France.

Michel Polydor said that bookings for the MFC could not be made until 5pm on 9 July.

All 200 competitors registered on the My FFPS app, then on the Hello Asso platform. They had to complete a questionnaire and pay their €400 registration fee. Each team that correctly completed all the information requested was then validated. After validation by Michel Polydor and

Alexandre Portheault, the teams were highlighted throughout the evening in the rankings displayed on the application.

For many of the competitors, the stress was intense. Some of them said they were looking forward to seeing their duo prominently displayed in the rankings on the app.

The next day, the stress was still there for those who had missed the first wave of registrations and didn't want to miss the second.

You can imagine their relief when the payment was validated on the Hello Asso platform and the duo finally appeared on the application. Several teams expressed their delight by sharing confirmation of their registration on social networks.

Each registered team will soon be presented on the MFC website, with photos, the names of the team members, their place of origin, their sponsors and their record of achievements.

Each team member will then be able to share their team's presentation page on their social networks.
