In Vendée, Alegina transforms oyster shells into raw materials

They are 3 Vendeans who joined forces in 2018 to create an industrial start-up: Alegina. Philippe Gaboriau, Thierry Didelon and Dominique Girardeau are carrying out a not-so-trivial project: to develop a recycling industry for oyster shells.

The industrial process they have developed allows them to transform the shells into 3 valuable materials: a porcelain paste (Kaomer), a road surface and a substrate for green roofs. With Alegina, oyster shells go from being waste to being raw material.

A real plus for the oyster industry.

Their production unit in Le Poiré sur Vie is becoming too small and they plan to create a new site of 2000 to 3000m2 located near La Roche sur Yon. A project that requires a fund raising of 3 million euros.
