By complementing its existing service with the Starlink network, supplied by Marlink, cruise operator Ponant is now offering its customers high-quality wifi access, regardless of location or conditions.

This free service is designed to enrich the onboard experience while improving operations and navigation.

"With Starlink, our passengers benefit from high-speed wifi access, even in the most remote areas of the planet. The Commandant Charcot was the first ship to test Starlink antennas at the North Pole. As experts in exploration cruises, we offer exceptional itineraries. This new service, which is entirely free of charge, is part of our commitment to offer the best quality of service to our passengers at any time and anywhere in the world," explains Benoît Carassou-Maillan, Ponant's Director of Customer Experience and Product Offering.

Operated by Space X and supplied by Marlink, the Starlink constellation comprises 6,000 satellites deployed in low orbit for faster connections and reduced latency. Connecting via Starlink will allow passengers to access the Internet, stay in touch with loved ones and share memories of their journey. The Starlink network increases the available bandwidth and geographical coverage of the main VSAT network operated via geostationary satellites. Collaboration between the ship's bridge, the technical team and the shore teams is seamless and ensures better navigation.

The entire Ponant fleet will be progressively equipped during 2023.
