Renaut is back in the boating world, with an original project: to equip a rechargeable hybrid boat with an automotive engine.
The French group has entered into a partnership with Brazilian manufacturer Hybdor, to integrate its one-liter three TCE engine - well known in Europe under the hood of the Dacia Duster - into a modern nautical unit, the future Hybdor Duotech 200E.
This four-cylinder petrol engine, will be combined with a small 25 hp electric motor and a 15 kWh LFP battery, promising a full recharge in 90 minutes. This rechargeable hybrid engine, compatible with the Superethanol E85 widely used in Brazil, aims to reconcile performance, efficiency and adaptation to the local market.
The project is being piloted by Horse, Renault's subsidiary dedicated to combustion and hybrid powertrains. Backed by shareholders Geely and Aramco, Horse could extend this type of partnership to other markets if the South American initiative proves successful.
