VIDEO - Watchkeeper, an affordable AI maritime collision detection system

With its launch in the United States, Watchkeeper offers an artificial intelligence-assisted collision detection solution, accessible to pleasure boaters. This device is designed to improve the safety of pleasure craft and fishing boats.

‘The aim of Watchkeeper is to broaden access to advanced safety technologies for sailors, by offering a solution tailored to different needs,’ explains Marcus Warrelmann, CEO of Sea.AI. ’Collisions are involved in a large proportion of accidents and incidents at sea. Thanks to real-time alerts, Watchkeeper offers additional assistance, operating in a variety of light and sea conditions.’

Available from $4,999, Watchkeeper is equipped with a 4K camera with a 135° field of view, integrated GPS and Sea.AI object recognition software. A version including an infrared thermal camera is also available for better night-time visibility.

Security and Surveillance Technologies

The context of Palm Beach, renowned for its superyacht activity, is the perfect showcase for Sentry, a perimeter surveillance system using artificial intelligence.

Developed for large yachts and commercial vessels, Sentry is designed to monitor in real time people who have fallen overboard, identify floating hazards and unlit objects and detect unauthorised approaches, even in the dark.

‘Sentry allows owners and captains to monitor the area around their vessel continuously, day or night, whether it is at berth or at sea,’ says Marcus Warrelmann. ’This system is based on advanced image analysis technology applied to the maritime domain.’

Sea.AI also presents Brain, a module that improves existing thermal cameras by integrating object detection and an automatic alert system based on artificial intelligence. A finalist in the DAME Awards, Brain sends real-time alerts to increase navigator vigilance.

This device can detect small objects, including people who have fallen overboard, thus contributing to safer navigation. Unlike human vision, which can be limited by contrast or attention, artificial intelligence analyses each pixel to identify elements that might otherwise go unnoticed.

Presentation of Watchkeeper at the Palm Beach International Boat Show

Sea.AI announces the official introduction of Watchkeeper to the US market at the 2025 Palm Beach International Boat Show. This safety system uses a database containing millions of annotated maritime objects to help boaters better identify risks and avoid incidents.

Visitors will be able to discover these solutions at stand #621, located on Nancy M. Graham Centennial Square, where an interactive demonstration with live video feed will present the capabilities of Sea.AI technology.
