The Quicksilver 625 Open unveiled in a world premiere at La Rochelle

It is one of the new models on display at the Grand Pavois La Rochelle 2026 in a segment that is particularly important for the future of the boating market.

Quicksilver unveils its new 625 Open, a model that rounds out the bottom end of the manufacturer’s open boat range. It is therefore not simply a matter of adding a new length to the catalogue: this boat is intended to serve as one of the entry points into the Quicksilver world and is aimed in particular at those considering buying their first new boat.

This strategy comes at a time when the sharp rise in boat prices recorded in recent years has made access to new boats more difficult for some customers.

With the 625 Open, Quicksilver is returning to a fairly simple formula: offering a boat just over six metres long, fitted with a reasonable engine and already well-equipped, without reaching the prices now seen on certain models of comparable size.

6.46 m long and 2.40 m wide

Despite its name, the Quicksilver 625 Open has an overall length of 6.46 m and a beam of 2.40 m.

These dimensions provide a genuine family boat whilst remaining within a relatively compact size. The aim is clearly for day trips, coastal cruising and water sports.

The model on display at the Grand Pavois is fitted with a 115 ch Mercury outboard. This power output is well suited to the boat’s purpose and also prevents the 625 Open from getting caught up in a race for ever-greater engine power, which would inevitably affect both its purchase price and running costs.

A boat designed for families and new boaters

This initial preview by Yachting Art ActuNautique does not yet constitute our full test or comprehensive review of the Quicksilver 625 Open. It does, however, highlight several interesting design choices made by the manufacturer.

Quicksilver has, in particular, paid special attention to safety whilst moving about on board.

Access to the cockpit is via a small rear hatch. The walkways are recessed and occupants have handrails to help them move about more easily whilst maintaining a firm footing.

These are important details on a boat designed to accommodate families and, potentially, owners new to recreational boating.

This design also reflects changing expectations for smaller vessels. An entry-level boat can no longer be simply a hull fitted with an engine. Buyers are now looking for a level of equipment, finish and ergonomics similar to that found on larger models.

Around 47,000 euros (including VAT) for the Quicksilver 625 Open on display

The main selling point of this new model, however, remains its price positioning.

The Quicksilver 625 Open presented at the Grand Pavois La Rochelle 2026 is priced at around 47,000 euros (including VAT), in the configuration on display, which includes a wide range of equipment.

This clarification is important: the aim here is not simply to highlight a ‘bare hull’ price or an introductory price that bears little relation to the boat on display at the show. The advertised price relates to the model on display and its 115 ch Mercury engine, complete with its standard cabin fittings.

In the current climate, this positioning enables Quicksilver, above all, to reconnect with customers who wish to buy a new boat without having to stretch their budgets significantly.

The 625 Open is thus part of a trend that is particularly evident at the Grand Pavois 2026: the desire among several players in the boating industry to recreate a genuine entry-level offering for recreational boating.

Making new boats accessible once again

Ultimately, the challenge goes beyond simply launching a new Quicksilver.

To renew its customer base, the boating industry must continue to offer boats that enable a new boater to make their first purchase without having to invest substantial sums straight away.

The Quicksilver 625 Open is specifically designed to fill this niche: large and well-equipped enough to be a proper family boat, yet with a more modest engine size and price tag compared to many larger vessels.

It now remains to examine in detail its deck layout, storage spaces, living areas, level of equipment and the solutions devised by Quicksilver to make the most of its 6.46 m length.

In this first episode filmed live from the Grand Pavois La Rochelle 2026, Yachting Art ActuNautique invites you to discover a world-exclusive preview of the new Quicksilver 625 Open. This is a first glimpse ahead of a full tour of the boat, which we’ll be bringing you very soon on Yachting Art ActuNautique.
