Let's go!
From tomorrow, Saturday 28 September, Saint-Tropez will once again take its place at the heart of the international nautical scene for the 25th anniversary of the Voiles de Saint-Tropez.
While the motor yachts have left the famous port of Var, 250 exceptional yachts divided into three fleets - Maxis, Moderns and Classics - will take their place and contribute to this exceptional nautical event, at the invitation of the Société Nautique de Saint-Tropez. But before the regattas, it's time for the very last training sessions and technical checks for the 3,000 or so crew who will be gathering in the gulf, bathed in autumn light, to bring the racing season to a close in style.
The crews, the people of the Tropéziens and the general public will be there from 9am on Saturday morning for the opening of the Village. Set up for the second time on the Jean Réveille mole, the Village des Voiles offers the unmistakable sensation of being aboard a boat, with an exceptional panorama of the sea and the port. The Village can be reached either by walking around the harbour, via the Quai Frédéric Mistral, or at the end of the harbour car park, by taking the shuttle bus across to the harbourmaster's office. The village is open every day until 9pm, and this year it will once again be open until the afternoon of Sunday 6 October, closing at 5pm.
While registration confirmations and security checks are in full swing in the Village for all categories, the first classic boats are due to start racing on Sunday afternoon in the Yacht Club de France Autumn Cup on the Cannes - Saint-Tropez course. On Monday, the Modern boats will set off from the Portalet tower at 11am, while the Maxis will compete in the Pampelonne area at 12pm. It should be noted that from Tuesday, unlike last year, the Moderns will be the first to set off from the Portalet at 11am, while the fleet of Traditional yachts will be asked to sail in a ‘waiting zone’ at the end of the gulf. Depending on the weather conditions, the Classics will then start from the same point at 12 noon.
