Yachting and Nautism - Pornichet (France) is going to reinvent its two marinas

On 31 December 2026, the concessions for Pornichet's two ports will come to an end. For the municipality, this deadline has been an opportunity to reflect on their future, and after consultation with the various stakeholders, to launch a call for tenders for a new single concession, for a period of 40 years, providing for their redevelopment and future operation.

The selected project will be carried out by a Société d'Économie Mixte Locale, in which the town of Pornichet will be the majority shareholder.
The aim is to turn the harbours into a real part of the town, whereas Pornichet's two marinas are currently 2 wormholes closed off from the town.
In the harbour, the quay will be extended by 8,000m² to create a new slipway, parking spaces and a new harbourmaster's office for both basins. The number of spaces in the public car park will be doubled by creating a second level above the existing car park, bringing the total to 200.
The existing buildings, which are ageing, not very accessible and do not meet energy performance requirements, will be demolished to make way for new ground-floor buildings with one storey, to accommodate around ten restaurants, several retail units, a nautical centre and a reception and seminar room.
Wide terraces will also offer uninterrupted views of the boats and the bay. These new facilities should help to keep the port lively all year round, as will the future areas dedicated to hosting events such as the Fête du Port, nautical rendezvous and even the Festival des Renc'Arts. Finally, accessibility will be improved, as the entire site will be brought up to standard.
In the berthing harbour, pontoons that can be beached will allow yachtsmen to access their boats
without worrying about the tide. A pontoon bridge will even provide access from the beach
to the harbour.
The seawall, which is regularly submerged during high tidal coefficients, will be raised by 1.5 metres to provide better protection for boats, in line with the latest CEREMA conclusions on the evolution of the coastline. As for the current modular premises, they will be replaced by a floating harbour master's annexe, and a future premises made available by the town to associations.
Finally, more generally, particular attention has been paid to integrating the project into the bay, and to its environmental quality through the choice of a sustainable construction method (bioclimatic design of the buildings), the installation of a solar sail made up of photovoltaic panels enabling
and the recovery of rainwater for boat washing and sanitary facilities,
but also in terms of its operation.
In the long term, the aim is to obtain recognition from renowned labels such as ‘Blue Flag Port’, ‘Clean Ports’ and ‘Clean Harbours’,
‘Clean Ports’ and “Clean Ports Active in Biodiversity”.
Work will start in 2027. Between now and then, meetings will be organised with Pornichétins, port customers, professionals and associations to fine-tune the project. From next January, the future operator will be available to answer any questions boaters may have.
