The Abacos, a paradise reborn, to be explored by sea with Dream Yacht

In the Bahamas, the Abaco archipelago embodies an almost perfect idea of sailing. Long scarred by Hurricane Dorian in 2019, this string of islands northeast of Nassau is now undergoing a spectacular revival. Rebuilt with patience and determination, the Abacos are once again welcoming sailors in search of crystal-clear waters, authentic villages and a preserved island lifestyle.

The Abacos, a paradise reborn, to be explored by sea with Dream Yacht

The Abacos are a flagship destination for Dream Yacht, the world leader in sailing boat, catamaran and monohull rentals. An extraordinary destination to discover from the sea, by sailing boat...

Arriving in the Abacos is already a promise of escape. From Florida, a short flight is all it takes to reach Marsh Harbour. Seen from the sky, the intense blue of the lagoons contrasts with the pristine sandbanks. Once there, the fully renovated Conch Inn marina is the ideal starting point for a cruise with Dream Yacht. Modern, functional and true to the local spirit, it immediately sets the tone for a stay marked by comfort and freedom.

Once you cast off, you can explore the Abacos at your own pace as you sail along the coast. Here, distances are short, there are numerous sheltered anchorages, and the sea is almost unreal in its calmness. Snorkelling above shallow reefs, fishing at dawn, swimming in deserted coves: each stopover offers a new facet of the archipelago.

Some islands have become iconic. On Great Guana Cay, Sundays take on a festive air, with lively beaches and a friendly atmosphere, while a simple staircase leads to stretches of pink sand and absolute tranquillity. Further south, Hope Town charms visitors with its harbour lined with pastel-coloured houses and its century-old lighthouse, which is still in operation. The absence of cars enhances the timeless charm of this island, where people get around by golf cart or on foot.

Green Turtle Cay, more discreet, cultivates a unique atmosphere. Its village of New Plymouth combines Loyalist history, intimate galleries and renowned local addresses. Here, meeting the locals is an integral part of the journey, as is watching the sunsets from the deck of the boat.

Sailing in the Abacos also means appreciating the resilience of a region and its inhabitants' attachment to their environment. For yachtsmen, it is an invitation to rediscover a more intimate Bahamas, far from the crowds, where the sea remains the most beautiful of paths. A destination that takes on its full meaning when experienced by sail, from island to island, at the mercy of the wind and the light.
