Vendee Globe 2020 Alex Thomson - structural damage onboard Hugo Boss

The night's highlight in the 2020 Vendée Globe.

Yesterday, Saturday 21st November, at 19:00 UTC, Welsh skipper Alex Thomson warned his shore team of a possible structural problem on board his Hugo Boss hydrofoil imoca.

At the time, Alex Thomson was in the South Atlantic, some 800 miles east of Rio de Janeiro, and had been 13 days into the race since the start of the Vendée Globe in Les Sables d'Olonne on 8 November.

Alex Thomson and his team, along with VPLP's naval architects and engineers involved in the construction of the boat, are now working together to assess the extent of this structural problem and to determine a repair programme and schedule.

Alex is safe and healthy on board and is in regular dialogue with the team.
