Life cycle assessment (LCA) of leasure boats and yachts is currently a major issue for the entire nautical industry. Yacht Life Cycle Assessment - Sunreef joins EBI

Sunreef Yachts Eco has recently joined a major life cycle assessment project managed by the European Boating Industry (EBI).

This initiative aims to develop professional tools for accurately assessing the environmental footprint of yachts. The project takes into account the environmental impact of a boat throughout its lifetime. This includes material extraction, construction, use, maintenance and disposal.

A pioneer and leader in sustainable yachting technologies through its ECO ranges, Sunreef Yachts, founded by Frenchman Francis Lapp, is an active participant in the working group, sharing the company's unique perspective on responsible yachting.

Nicolas Lapp, co-founder and technical director of the shipyard, comments: "We are proud to contribute to the development of this important LCA tool for the yachting industry. The yachting world needs a holistic approach to this issue, and we're happy to share our knowledge and expertise".

Under the aegis of the European Boating Industry (EBI), the market's leading players are together taking up the sustainability challenge and giving the industry a head start. A group of leading yacht manufacturers and industry associations have come together to develop the first-ever environmental footprint methodology for yachts under 24 meters. This methodology will be underpinned by a database and assessment tool that will enable small and large manufacturers alike to enter the ecological transition.

With its expertise in energy efficiency, sustainable shipbuilding, design and finishing, Sunreef Yachts Eco is embarking on this project with the aim of contributing to positive change in the world of yachting.
