According to Jean Raas, Product Manager and Managing Director of Aquila USA, interviewed by ActuNautique Yachting Art, this innovation stems from lessons learned from the integration of foils on the Sport 36 model. Optimising their shape required numerous tests, but the results obtained were remarkable, with an improvement in energy efficiency of up to 35%.
Encouraged by these benefits in terms of fuel consumption and sailing comfort, Aquila has chosen to make these foils standard equipment on the Coupes.
Although foils are commonly used in nautical competitions, their adoption on power catamarans has a distinct advantage. Thanks to their double-hull design, these boats allow the foil to extend between the hulls, thus ensuring better lift at cruising speed without the need for complex systems. Unlike traditional solutions for increasing engine power, which lead to higher fuel and maintenance costs, foils offer a more efficient and sustainable alternative.
The Aquila Coupe 42 and 46 models are equipped with outboard engines offering a range equivalent to that of similar boats with three or four engines. This technical choice is based on several years of research and rigorous testing to ensure optimal performance.
Following on from the Yacht Power Catamaran 50, the Coupe range combines sportiness and comfort, offering a large amount of space on board and great versatility. Designed for sea trips, short cruises or moments of relaxation, these catamarans combine elegance and technological innovation.
Note that the Aquila Power Catamarans brand is distributed in the Canet en Roussillon region by Passion Nautisme 66.
