Boating – Greenline hybrids prove popular in Southeast Asia

Slovenian manufacturer Greenline Yachts is consolidating its position in South-East Asia thanks to a series of rapid sales orchestrated by its regional distributor, Derani Yachts. Driven by growing demand for more sustainable boating, its 39- to 58-foot hybrid vessels are appealing to customers who value quiet comfort and energy efficiency.

Boating – Greenline hybrids prove popular in Southeast Asia

Asian boaters' interest in more responsible sailing is driving the growth of hybrid boats. Greenline Yachts, a pioneer in ‘Responsible Yachting’, is taking full advantage of this trend. Since establishing a presence in the region through its distributor, Derani Yachts, based in Phuket, three units have already been sold, with confirmed orders in Singapore and Thailand, and promising prospects in Malaysia and Indonesia.

This momentum can be explained by the shipyard's philosophy: combining comfort, energy efficiency and autonomy. The brand's models – including the Greenline 40, 45 Fly and 48 Fly – feature a hybrid 6G H-Drive engine capable of providing several hours of pure electric sailing. Powered by solar panels and a lithium battery bank, this system also allows for quiet, emission-free living on board at anchor.

For Håkan Lange, Managing Director of Derani Yachts, Greenline technology represents above all a cultural evolution in the region:

"In Singapore, green energy is generating real enthusiasm. In other parts of Asia, it is still a novelty, but there is genuine curiosity. The hybrid mode appeals as much to those who want to reduce their footprint as to those who seek the serenity of silent sailing."

The design features also contribute to this success. The flybridges topped with a hardtop, the large overhangs protecting the cockpit and windows, and the light colours of the hulls are perfectly suited to the tropical climate. These features provide shade and coolness, while maintaining the brand's refined aesthetic.

According to Alessandro Lorenzon, Chief Experience Officer at Greenline, this approach sets the manufacturer apart from its competitors:

"Our boats are not designed to be fashionable or stylish. They are designed to last, to offer years of comfortable and efficient sailing. ‘

With the availability of the Greenline 58 Fly and the upcoming announcement of a new 42-foot model, the Slovenian shipyard is preparing to consolidate its presence in Asia.

Its CEO, Vladimir Zinchenko, highlights the market's potential:

’Greenline is still young in Asia, but the response has been exceptional. Our values of sustainability and our vision of responsible yachting resonate naturally in this region. "

Between energy transition, comfort and Mediterranean elegance, Greenline Yachts confirms that hybridisation is no longer a promise, but a reality of modern yachting in Southeast Asia.
