This 8-day, 7-night sailing itinerary takes travellers on a superb day's sailing among three main island groups; Koh Samui and Koh Pha Ngan, Ang Thong Marine Park and Koh Tao.
Dream Yacht has 3 luxury cartamarans at its disposal for this dream sailing trip: Bali 5.4, Lagoon 620 and Fountaine-Pajot Ipanema 58.
Day 1 - Saturday: Koh Samui (Base) - Koh Tean (3MN, 0h30)
Check-in at Dream Yacht base and board the catamaran at 17:00 for departure to the first overnight anchorage at Koh Tean, on the south side of the island. This is a popular beach for day trips and quieter at night, with lush vegetation and mangrove forest covering the island. It's an ideal anchorage for a first night of disconnection. Although day trips from Tong Krut beach on Samui are popular, the island's many trails are overgrown. There is still plenty to see on land, walking through the mangrove forest, or snorkelling on the reef that surrounds the island. Legend has it that any dog placed on the island will go mad within 24 hours because of the noise of the thousands of bats that fly in every day at dusk. In the morning, enjoy a spot of snorkelling or a stroll along the pretty beaches to the west of the island before heading off to the next anchorage.
Day 2 - Sunday: Koh Tean - Koh Phaluai Kang Tak Bay - Ang Thong National Park (17 NM, 2h45)
After a morning swim on the beautiful beaches of Koh Team, sail to Koh Phalui: this large island, 5 miles south of Ang Thong park, is administered by the park rangers. The entire coastline is devoted to collecting birds' nests and it is forbidden to drop anchor here. However, on the north coast there is a beautiful beach well sheltered from the south and west. On the first day, lunch at Koh Phaluai and the chance to swim or take part in water sports on board (snorkelling, paddle boarding and kayaking). Next, we head for Ang Thong National Park to spend the night at anchor, surrounded by magnificent unspoilt nature.
Day 3 - Monday: Ang Thong - Koh Sam Sao - Koh Nai Phut (3MN, 0h45)
Sail to Koh Sam Sao and Koh Thai Phlao for lunch and inter-island exploration. Although not guaranteed, there have been many sightings of whale sharks and pods of river dolphins in this area. At Koh Sam Sao, there is a stone bridge with a natural feature linking two rocks, large enough to pass over in a dinghy. Opposite the stone bridge are two small islands linked (usually) by a sandbar. This is an excellent snorkelling spot and a truly private beach (at least for a while). On land, a short path leads to a viewpoint. Koh Thai Phlao & Koh Nai Put is a group of small, tightly clustered islands at the northern end of the national park. There are several small hongs dotted around the islands, on the east side of the north island there is one large enough to enter at half tide. End of the day at Koh Nai Put, the anchorage for the night.
Day 4 - Tuesday: Koh Nai Put - Koh Tao (25MN, 4h15)
After breakfast, sail to Koh Tao, a small granite island to the north of this area, known for its crystal-clear waters. First night in Mango Bay, the only inhabited bay on the north coast of Koh Tao. Although busy with speedboats and dive boats during the day, it is a tranquil paradise in the early morning and late afternoon/evening, with pristine coral and excellent snorkelling.
Day 5 - Wednesday: Koh Tao North - Koh Tao South (6MN, 1h)
We'll take the whole day to explore the beaches, corals and reefs along the eastern side of Koh Tao. Enjoy water sports on board (paddle, kayak and snorkel). For the night anchorage, we'll head after 3pm to Shark Island, when the local dive boats move away and the crowds disperse. This anchorage offers crystal-clear, sheltered waters and fantastic coral formations.
Day 6 - Thursday: Koh Tao - Koh Pha Ngan (23MN, 3h45)
Sail to Koh Pha Ngan. Although known for its monthly full moon festival on the south-eastern peninsula, Koh Pha Ngan offers quieter white sandy beaches, including Ao Thonh Nai Pan and Bottle Beach, an ideal stopover when sailing from Koh Tao. Bottle Beach, the overnight anchorage, is only accessible by boat or by long walks. It's a pretty little bay with a few small resorts, coconut plantations and jungle.
Day 7 - Friday: Koh Pha Ngan - Ao Chaweng, Koh Samui (17MN, 2h30)
After a morning swim, we'll head off for lunch at Haad Rin Rock on Koh Pha Ngan, one of the island's most beautiful beaches. After lunch, it's time to head back to Koh Samui. We'll sail to our last anchorage, Ao Chaweng, a large open bay with several choices of anchorages. Chaweng, the busiest stop of the week, is a long, sprawling strip of shops, bars and restaurants, ideal for shopping or a nightcap.
Saturday: Ao Chaweng - Base (10MN, 1h30)
Short sail from Ao Chaweng to the DReam Yacht base, disembarking at 9am.
