On 25 March 2026, Sunreef Yachts announced the signing of a new high-profile client: tennis player Carlos Alcaraz. The Spanish champion has ordered a fully customised Sunreef Ultima 88 catamaran, marking his entry into the world of luxury yachting. This acquisition is part of a growing trend among international athletes to invest in bespoke vessels, combining leisure, comfort and status.
Founded in 2002 by French entrepreneur Francis Lapp, Sunreef Yachts has established itself over the past two decades as a major player in the luxury catamaran sector. Initially specialising in sailing yachts, the shipyard has gradually expanded its range to include motor, hybrid and electric models. Based in Gdańsk, Poland, with facilities also in the United Arab Emirates, Sunreef has distinguished itself through its ability to offer fully customisable yachts and its positioning in the high-end multihull market, a segment that has seen strong growth since the 2010s.
The arrival of Carlos Alcaraz among the shipyard’s clientele is part of a strategy to boost visibility and market positioning. Already recognised as one of the most successful players of his generation, with several Grand Slam titles to his name, the athlete enjoys significant international renown.
For Sunreef, this type of profile helps to reinforce the image of a brand associated with influential figures from the worlds of sport and business. For his part, the Spanish player joins a category of owners for whom a yacht represents both a private space and a symbol of success.
The choice of a yacht here follows a clearly defined rationale. After several intense seasons on the professional circuit, Carlos Alcaraz expressed a desire for a space dedicated to relaxation, where he can spend time with family and close friends.
The Sunreef Ultima 88 project fits perfectly into this vision. The vessel will be custom-configured to meet these expectations, notably featuring living spaces designed for socialising and relaxation.
The Ultima range, to which the commissioned model belongs, represents an evolution in the shipyard’s offering. It combines sleeker, contemporary lines with enhanced performance, whilst retaining the characteristics specific to multihulls, notably stability and living space.
The Sunreef Ultima 88 thus boasts a claimed top speed of 26 knots, positioning this model in a category halfway between a cruising yacht and a more dynamic vessel. This focus reflects a shift in the market, where owners are seeking boats capable of combining comfort and performance.
One of the key features of the design lies in the layout of the outdoor spaces. The yacht incorporates an Ocean Lounge at the stern, designed as a multifunctional platform in direct contact with the sea.
This feature includes a garage for water sports equipment, a hydraulic platform and deployable side terraces. The whole design aims to facilitate access to the water and encourage leisure activities, such as jet-skiing or water sports.
The flybridge, meanwhile, is designed as an additional living space, dedicated to relaxation and al fresco dining. This layout reflects changing habits, where outdoor areas play a central role in the on-board experience.
The yacht’s interior layout will reflect the owner’s preferences. The master suite will be situated at the forward end of the main deck and will span the full width of the vessel, offering ample space and enhanced natural light.
It will notably include a bathroom with a bathtub, as well as storage spaces suitable for extended stays. Additional cabins will be provided to accommodate guests and crew, in a layout optimised for life on board.
This customisation is a key feature of the Sunreef offering, which is based on a bespoke approach rather than standardised models.
