Yesterday, June 8, on the occasion of World Oceans Day, this partnership was signed between the multi-titled sportsman and Francis Lapp, founding president of the Polish shipyard based in Gdansk.
This partnership follows Nico Rosberg's participation, a few weeks ago, in an online press conference organised by Sunreef Yachts, during which the shipyard presented its range of eco-designed Sunreef Eco catamarans, a unique approach of its kind (discover the Eco concept in video here).
"With Nico Rosberg on board," says Francis Lapp, "we have an exceptional brand ambassador who has a real passion for sustainable engineering and technologies. We are starting an exciting partnership with someone who loves excellence, competition and innovation, we definitely share the same values".
After a long career in the world of motor sports, crowned by the Formula 1 World Championship title in 2016, Nico Rosberg has forged a second career in the field of sustainable development and mobility. An investor and shareholder in Formula E, he supports innovative start-ups and is the founder of the Greentech Festival - a trade fair dedicated to avant-garde technologies and promoting a sustainable lifestyle.
During her recent appearance at Sunreef Yachts Eco's virtual press conference, the motor sport superstar expressed her interest in the shipyard's latest technical developments.
"It's great to see that the world's leading luxury catamaran manufacturer shares my commitment to sustainable technological innovation," says Nico Rosberg, "I am very proud to advance this vision with Sunreef Yachts. Luxury and sustainability are not mutually exclusive. Quite the contrary. It is through the introduction of environmentally friendly technologies and sustainable materials into the luxury sector that we are creating a halo effect on the entire industry and meeting the future demands of the most sophisticated customers.
