For its 21st edition, the Porquerolle's Classic organized by the Yacht Club de Porquerolles will welcome fifty-five classic and 12m JI yachts from June 6 to 9.
This 2024 vintage promises a majestic festival of sails in the Hyères harbor, an ideal moment for Portland, a dry and afloat port and Mercury Marine dealer based in Hyères, to join forces with the Yacht Club de Porquerolles, of which it is a partner, to organize test days on the occasion of Porquerolle's Classic.
The Porquerolle's Classic is part of the official calendar of the Association Française des Yachts de Tradition (AFYT). It brings together the finest sailing yachts in the Mediterranean. It consists of constructed and coastal courses in the harbor and around the islands of Hyères.
On the final day, the Moonbeam Trophy commemorates the origins of Porquerolle's Classic. It was created in 2003 to celebrate the centenary of Moonbeam of Fife, the famous auric yawl built in the Scottish shipyard of Fairlie.
This event, which follows on from the Porquerolle's Cup held at the end of May, is another opportunity for Mercury dealer Portland to organize trials of Mercury's first three Avator models: the Avator 7.5e, 20e and 35e are presented on Quicksilver Air Deck and Alu Rib tenders in tiller or remote control versions.
These tests are accompanied by attractive offers to be discovered on site or by contacting Portland.
The Avator-powered Quicksilver tenders will be available for testing all day from Friday to Sunday.
Aurélie Lhuillier, Director of the Yacht Club de Porquerolles: "Porquerolle's Classic is a must-attend event for the Yacht Club de Porquerolles. This year, 2024, is an exceptional year for the Yacht Club, which is organizing four events. We're determined to take on new challenges and innovate to keep competitors coming back for more. With 55 competitors registered for the Porquerolle's Classic, it's a new participation record, and I hope our race will live up to our competitors."
Eric le Meur, director of Portland, expresses his satisfaction at being able to organize trials again during the Porquerolle's Classic. "Numerous trials were organized during the Porquerolle's Cup at the end of May. This new event should enable us to carry out many more tests, and to showcase this range of electric outboard motors made by the world's leading outboard motor manufacturer. I would like to thank Mercury Marine France once again for its support and backing in this project."
