Nautism - End of the recall campaign for Jeanneau Sun Odyssey sailboats

A few days ago, the European authorities issued a recall notice for Jeanneau Sun Odyssey yachts.

This recall notice for sailboats on the market was published a year after it was sent to the authorities, and the recall campaign is now almost complete.

Background: in April 2023, the Vendée-based shipyard Jeanneau, a Bénéteau Group brand, decided to launch a recall campaign aimed at reinforcing the gluing of Sleipner-Sidepower retractable bow thruster modules in the hulls of Sun Odyssey 410, Sun Odyssey 440 and Sun Odyssey 490 equipped with this option, and produced in 2020, 2021 and 2022.

To this end, a comprehensive information system has been set up, including a dedicated section on the Jeanneau website.
At the same time, a list of the hull numbers concerned has been sent to dealers so that they can contact their customers and organise the trade-in work.

Today, all the boat owners concerned have been contacted and almost all the operations have been carried out.

As Yann Masselot, CSO Boating Division, Groupe Beneteau, explained to ActuNautique.com: "As you can see, the Jeanneau brand has been extremely proactive on this issue. We want every owner to be able to rely on the Jeanneau team when needed. Jeanneau takes all problems very seriously and endeavours to resolve them in record time, with quality and safety at the heart of our procedures".
