Nautism, yacht tender and tender boat - Last September, Yachting Art gave you an exclusive opportunity to discover the very first electric tender from Highfield Boats, during a trial in the port of Les Minimes in La Rochelle. The tender was a Highfield 340 Electric. Production has just started in China, but with an electric jet engine and a length of 3.30 m...
Following the presentation of an initial prototype last year, Highfield Boats has announced the launch of series production of this model of electric tender, the Highfield EJET330.
Highfield's EJET330 is a compact tender that can be easily stored in the garage of most large yachts over 55 feet. With its instantaneous power, it is incredibly responsive and great fun to manoeuvre, moving smoothly and quietly.
With no propeller, the EJET330 is environmentally safe.
It can be used at very shallow depths, skimming the surface of the water, minimising the impact on fragile ecosystems. It poses no danger to swimmers and is easy to beach.
In terms of electric propulsion, Highfield has opted for an electric jet propulsion system developed by ZeroJet, the New Zealand specialist in electric jet systems. The technology and design are the result of two years of collaboration between the two companies, resulting in a boat that represents a combination of Highfield's performance and strength with ZeroJet's efficient and powerful electric system.
With a length of 3.36 metres, a width of 1.82 metres and a blind spot of 15˚, the tender weighs 320 kg in total, including battery, with FCT console, steering wheel and remote controls.
The EJET330 has a 10.8 kWh battery with a power output of 20 kW, equivalent to 25 hp. The boat is claimed to glide at a speed of 11 knots and to travel at a maximum speed of 20 knots.
The 48V-10A low-voltage lithium iron phosphate battery can run for up to 7 hours at an unspecified speed. Charging can take up to 2.5 hours, depending on the power of the charger.
Available in four colours, the Highfield EJET330 features an aluminium hull - the company's speciality - that can carry up to five passengers. It has hypalon floats.
Mathilde Delfour, Highfield's European Managing Director, comments: "The Highfield EJET330 is the result of many months of development combining Highfield's experience in boat building and ZeroJet's electric jet propulsion, which won a DAME Award at METS 2023. We are proud to offer our very first electric jet tender and to expand our range for new types of fun boating! "
