France - Sea-Doo commits to personal watercraft recycling with APER

Sea-Doo, a BRP Inc. brand, has announced its support for the French Association pour la Plaisance Éco-Responsable (APER), the official eco-organization for the treatment of waste from leasure and sports boats.

France - Sea-Doo commits to personal watercraft recycling with APER

APER, of which Sea-Doo is a member, launched its new #recyclermonbateau campaign at Grand Pavois 2024 boatshow, highlighting the importance of recycling boats at the end of their life.

As a key player in the industry, Sea-Doo is reaffirming its commitment to promoting a responsible and sustainable approach to water-based leisure activities, as a member of APER. In fact, the manufacturer's personal watercraft are covered by this program in the same way as pleasure boats.

Through its program, APER is committed to reusing a maximum number of components from the dismantling of recovered boats. For example, an average of 60% of these are composites, 56% of which are currently being recycled for energy purposes1.

Every year, 3,000 boats are deconstructed.

This commitment is part of a broader approach supported by Sea-Doo's Responsible Rider program, which raises awareness among water sports enthusiasts of the importance of sailing responsibly. The Responsible Rider x Sea-Doo charter, available on the Sea-Doo website, encourages respectful driving through three pillars: safety, environmental protection and respect for other users. Alongside its membership of APER, Sea-Doo is stepping up its promotion of safer, more responsible boating.
