Yachting - Martin Lambot, new chairman of distributor Tecmar

Thierry Lambot, founder 13 years ago of the La Rochelle-based distributor of accessories and equipment for boating and yachting, has decided to hand over the helm to his son Martin.

With around thirty brands distributed and more than 3,500 customers, Martin Lambot will be able to build on this positive momentum to realise his new ambitions in both the marine and industrial markets. He will be able to rely on his experienced team of around twenty employees, based at the company's head office in Sainte-Soulle and in Antibes, to help him bring his plans to fruition.

While Martin is keen to develop the company in new markets, he intends to continue to build on the strengths that are part of Tecmar's DNA: genuine technical expertise, a high-quality customer relations service to meet bespoke needs, and the close, trusting relationships built up over the years with his supplier and customer partners.

In a fast-changing marine market, continuing to develop the technical expertise of all our products and making the most of this expertise will be a major challenge.

Also at the heart of the new strategy is the desire to expand into the industrial market, which will account for half of the company's business within 5 years.

Objective: a commitment to greater CSR

Thierry Lambot anticipated the need to implement more responsible practices within the company. The various initiatives he has put in place - with suppliers, customers and employees alike - have been rewarded with the Bronze Medal awarded by the benchmark Ecovadis label.

It is on this basis that Martin, who is sensitive to environmental issues, will be able to strengthen Tecmar's CSR policy with his brother Pierre-Philippe Dangaly.

Next project? The installation of photovoltaic panels to supply solar energy to the company's premises, the structure of which was designed with this installation in mind.

The acquisition of Tecmar: the culmination of Martin Lambot's career as a specialist in the purchase of technical products

After studying international business, specialising in purchasing and innovation, Martin Lambot quickly moved into the procurement of high added-value products, notably at Total, where he was in charge of sourcing electronic components for batteries.

He then joined Tecmar as head of purchasing. For six years, he gradually broadened the scope of his activities: first with suppliers, then with customers, and finally in the overall management of the company. Taking over Tecmar when his father retired was a logical next step.

More than a decade of growth for Tecmar

After 26 years at the helm of the French branch of British equipment manufacturer Lewmar, Thierry Lambot set himself the new challenge of creating his own company. He launched Tecmar in 2011 with his wife and two friends. Since then, the company has gone from strength to strength, expanding into new territories and new markets. With the opening of an electrical department in 2012 and then a plumbing department in 2018, a network of technical sales representatives throughout France and the opening of new offices in Antibes, the company he is now handing over to his son is not the same as it was when he started!

Martin Lambot told Yachting Art: "I will attach great importance to preserving the soul of Tecmar. We have built up a real relationship of trust with our customers by working hard every day to provide them with tailor-made solutions. Even if I take on new projects, this will remain one of my priorities."

Thierry Lambot concludes: "My personal commitment to ensuring Tecmar's success has always been very important, and it is with complete confidence that I am handing the company over to my son. His desire to follow in the footsteps of the values I have upheld is a source of satisfaction and a guarantee for our partners of successful future collaborations."

Tecmar's premises are located in Sainte Soulle, near La Rochelle, and Antibes.
