Boot 2025 - Nimbus sells Bella Boats and Flipper to Sweden's Cremo Boats (Crescent and Monark)

The announcement came at the height of Boot Düsseldorf 2025. After weeks of anxiety about the future of Finnish powerboat brands Bella Boats and Flipper, the solution came from Sweden and Cremo Boats, a subsidiary of Intagagruppen, whose name is the acronym of two historic Swedish boat brands, Crescent and Monark!

Nimbus sells its small boat assets to Cremo AB

Swedish boatbuilder Nimbus Group has signed an agreement with Cremo AB, a subsidiary of Intagagruppen, to sell its inventory and production equipment related to small boats of the Bella and Flipper brands, marking a key step in its strategy to refocus on the premium segment.

Key points of the agreement between Nimbus Group and Cremo AB

  • Nimbus sells its existing stocks of Bella and Flipper boats, as well as raw materials, moulds and production equipment from its facility in Kuopio, Finland, which will close in September.
  • Cremo acquires the rights to use the Bella and Flipper brands under a multi-year licensing agreement, with the option to buy them back at a later date.
  • The agreement excludes the top-of-the-range Flipper 900 DC and 900 ST models, which will continue to be produced by Nimbus under the Flipper brand during a transition period, before being integrated into the Aquador range.

Strategic impact for Nimbus

According to Jan-Erik Lindström, CEO of the Nimbus Group, this sale is part of a strategy to refocus on the top end of the market following the pandemic. This strategic repositioning led to the closure of the Finnish factories and the decision to entrust the Bella and Flipper small boats to a player specialising in this segment.

The agreement with Cremo also facilitates stock management and optimises Nimbus's cash flow until the end of the operation. The Larsmo production plant, where the top-of-the-range Flipper models and Falcon aluminium boats are manufactured, is not affected.

Cremo AB and Intagagruppen

Cremo AB, a subsidiary of Intagagruppen, is a specialist in the production of small outboard boats. Intagagruppen, a Swedish family business owned by the Bengtsson family, has facilities in Sweden and a factory in Poland (since... 1972!) and employs around 50 people, with annual sales of SEK 125 million (€11 million).

In addition to Cremo Boats, the Intaga Group also includes heating solutions supplier Grad-in AB, mechanical workshop Manovi AB, roof box manufacturer Cremo Carbox and electronics company DA-Elektronik, all based in Torpa. Polish operations include the Cremo Composite composite materials factory and Agafil, which manufactures bathrooms.

The Bella and Flipper boats will now be built at the Cremo plant in Chojnice. The Polish plant has recently been expanded and modernised, and has the capacity to produce many more boats than today.

"We have very good support from the Polish authorities and, thanks to this acquisition, we will be hiring at least 50 people in different professional categories for the factory. In addition, it also means additional positions in sales and marketing at the head office in Varberg, Sweden," explained Carl-Tore Bengtsson of Cremo AB on Actunautique Yachting Art.
