Nautitech Introduces the 41 Type S: A New Approach to Customisable Cruising Catamarans

At this year’s Multihull Boat Show, the French catamaran builder Nautitech unveiled its latest model, the Nautitech 41 Type S, positioned as the new entry-level offering in its range of owner-focused multihulls. This model is set to replace the existing Nautitech 40 Open and will officially launch in spring 2026.

Measuring 12.60 metres in overall length and with a light displacement of just 9 tonnes, the 41 Type S has been designed with adaptability and owner personalisation at its core. The concept centres on modular design and long-term upgradeability, both structurally and internally.

One of the standout innovations of the Nautitech 41 Type S is the introduction of an “intelligent” technical platform referred to by the shipyard as “the cursor”. This system enables owners to tailor their boat across three key criteria: comfort, performance, and budget. By offering scalable features and retrofit options, Nautitech aims to create a yacht that evolves with its owners over time—an approach well-suited for both new buyers and future resale.

Designed by naval architect Marc Lombard, the 41 Type S is built with a lightweight composite structure and carefully managed weight distribution. These elements combine to provide a stable and efficient sailing platform. The design also reflects a shift towards a leaner, more sustainable production cycle.

The cockpit and saloon have also undergone significant revisions. The model features an ergonomic cockpit that opens directly onto a reimagined saloon, ensuring a seamless indoor-outdoor connection. Enhanced 360-degree visibility, improved circulation, and smart use of space contribute to greater onboard safety and comfort, supporting both long passages and relaxed coastal cruising.

In terms of pricing, the Nautitech 41 Type S is offered at a base, ready-to-sail price of €440,000 excluding VAT—approximately 17% less than its predecessor, the Nautitech 40 Open, which was priced at €525,000 ex VAT. The new model will be built in France, maintaining the brand’s commitment to local manufacturing and quality craftsmanship.

With the Nautitech 41 Type S, the yard signals a new direction in owner-centric catamaran design, combining technological innovation with flexibility, and offering a fresh alternative for those entering the world of multihull cruising.
