YOT 36 Sport - 2x400hp Mercury V10 : the best choice ?

YOT Power Catamarans Launches New YOT 36 Sport with Twin Mercury V10 Engines.

In France, YOT Power Catamarans, a brand launched by Catana Group, has announced the release of its latest model, the YOT 36 Sport. This new version of the 10.9-metre catamaran builds upon the original YOT 36, first introduced two years ago, and is now equipped with twin Mercury Verado V10 400 hp outboard engines.

Designed with both performance and comfort in mind, the YOT 36 Sport enhances the brand’s offering with a more dynamic propulsion setup. While the standard version of the YOT 36 features two 300 hp Mercury V8 engines, this upgraded model benefits from the increased torque and responsiveness of the V10 engines, enabling a top speed of 40 knots and a cruising speed of 25 knots.

Fuel efficiency has also seen a modest improvement, and port manoeuvres are facilitated by the Mercury joystick system, allowing for more precise control in tight spaces.

The YOT 36 Sport retains the key features of the original design, notably its walkaround deck layout, deep and secure starboard side deck, and a versatile aft cockpit that can be opened or closed to the sea. This design enables the vessel to transform into a private relaxation space when at anchor. The forward cockpit remains more secluded and is practical for use even while underway.

New features specific to the Sport version include upgraded upholstery, adding a refined touch to the onboard experience. The central nacelle, sheltered by a protective T-Top, houses the galley and helm station. Despite its day boat styling, the YOT 36 is equipped for longer journeys, offering two cabins and two bathrooms, making it suitable for extended cruising.

With its combination of enhanced speed, improved handling, and thoughtful onboard amenities, the YOT 36 Sport is positioned as a capable vessel for both day outings and longer coastal voyages, such as a crossing to Corsica or cruising along the Croatian coastline.
