Founded in the late 1940s on the banks of the Arno River, Cantieri di Pisa has established itself over the decades as one of the jewels of Italian yachting. Renowned for its timeless designs and high standards of craftsmanship, the shipyard has made its mark on history with iconic models such as the Akhir and Polaris series, which have become synonymous with elegance and innovation.
Based in Pisa but with a global outlook, the brand has always combined avant-garde design, performance and comfort at sea. Today, under the leadership of its CEO Marco Massabò, Cantieri di Pisa is embarking on a new strategic direction with the launch of the Super Polaris 70, the result of an ambitious partnership with T. Mariotti, a major player in international shipbuilding.
Presented as a true ‘new generation explorer yacht’, the Super Polaris 70 powered by T. Mariotti embodies a renewed vision of sea travel: that of functional luxury, designed for adventure and well-being.
Measuring 70 metres in length, this exceptional superyacht was designed for an owner with a passion for exploration. Its design, by Antonio Luxardo, and its interior layout, by Pulina Exclusive Interiors, reflect the philosophy of Cantieri di Pisa: combining Italian elegance, total comfort and technological robustness.
Built on a steel hull with a superstructure made of aluminium and composite materials, the Super Polaris 70 is suitable for all latitudes, from the South Pacific to the polar seas, while guaranteeing silence, stability and autonomy.
Its signature feature is its generous and modular outdoor spaces, which the owner can transform at will into a sports ground for volleyball, basketball, padel tennis or a vast aquatic lounge with a counter-current pool. An innovative design that illustrates a strong trend in contemporary yachting: the vessel as a platform for experiences.
‘We want to pay tribute to the history of the shipyard while looking to the future,’ explains Marco Massabò. This partnership with T. Mariotti allows us to combine the craftsmanship of Cantieri di Pisa with the cutting-edge engineering of a major international manufacturer."
Designed for long stays on board, the Super Polaris 70 features four decks dedicated to comfort, relaxation and conviviality.
The upper deck houses a 60 m² VIP suite with two private terraces of 5 m² each, a large panoramic lounge, a dining room and a main galley. At the stern, an open space allows for complete freedom of layout, from a lounge area to an outdoor gym.
On the Main Deck, a light-filled winter garden precedes the owner's suite, a veritable 95 m² apartment with two side balconies, each measuring 20 m².
The four guest cabins, large interior salons and storage areas for tenders and water toys complete this level, which can be transformed into a sun deck once the tenders are launched.
The lower deck is dedicated to wellness, with a 180 m² beach club, counter-current pool, spa, gym and two side garages capable of accommodating 8.5-metre tenders. At the bow, the spacious and functional crew quarters accommodate 16 crew members in 10 cabins, ensuring optimal comfort for long voyages.
For Alessandro Pulina, founder of Pulina Exclusive Interiors, the Super Polaris 70 had to be, above all, an ‘oasis of comfort’. The idea was to create a soothing, bright and tactile environment, where each material interacts with the sea.
Neutral tones dominate, inspired by linen and cashmere, while contrasts of light and dark walnut give rhythm to the spaces. Travertine marble, omnipresent on the walls and worktops, lends an elegant continuity to the spaces.
‘We sought to evoke travel and serenity,’ explains Pulina. ‘The design is understated and contemporary, but never cold. It invites contemplation, whether you're off the coast of the tropics or in the heart of the ice.’
Every detail highlights the excellence of made in Italy: the lighting and furniture are made by craftsmen who are partners in the project, and the metal inlays and leather finishes are handcrafted. The whole reflects high-precision craftsmanship, faithful to the Pisan tradition while embracing the codes of modern yachting.
Beneath its sleek silhouette, the Super Polaris 70 conceals cutting-edge technical architecture. Powered by two CAT 3512 engines, it reaches a cruising speed of 12 knots and has a range of approximately 6,500 nautical miles at 10 knots, meaning it can travel non-stop from the Mediterranean to the Caribbean or the Scandinavian fjords.
Its maximum speed is estimated at 15 knots, while maintaining remarkable acoustic comfort. This energy efficiency illustrates the shipyard's evolution towards more sustainable solutions, notably through the use of lightweight composite materials and intelligent on-board management technologies.
Combining a spirit of adventure, Italian refinement and technological innovation, the project marks the beginning of a new era for the shipyard, faithful to its heritage but looking to the future.
‘The Super Polaris 70 is not just a yacht,’ concludes Antonio Luxardo. ‘It is a symbol: that of a legendary brand that continues to write its history, between tradition and exploration.’
