The nautical activities prohibited in France in the context of the containment of the coronavirus covid 19
If the decision taken by the government to confine the population seemed clear with a watchword - stay at home - the Préfecture Maritime de Méditerranée wished to dot the i's and cross the t's, making things clearer.
Some yachtsmen thought that boating was a form of confinement, the Premar Méditerranée specified today that in accordance with decree n°2020-260 of 16 March 2020 regulating travel as part of the fight against the spread of the COVID-19 virus, yachting, tourism or water sports activities were also prohibited in the Mediterranean Sea (as well as in the Atlantic and the English Channel) until 31 March 2020.
Both at sea and on land, these provisions are intended to actively combat the spread of COVID-19 by restricting all travel.
They also make it possible to preserve the means of rescue at sea to dedicate them more specifically to possible health interventions linked to the current epidemic.
It is therefore requested that this ban be strictly respected and that this information be relayed to all users of the sea. For the record, failure to comply with the above-mentioned regulations is liable to the same penalties as on land.
