As a result, nautical events are authorised subject to compliance with the conditions defined by the state of health emergency.

Vessels coming for their part from the Schengen zone are authorised to call, anchor or stop in French internal and territorial waters. Nevertheless, some Schengen countries may still prohibit the entry of recreational boats into their waters.

Nautical activities are authorised within the limits of the prerogatives of the Maritime Prefect of the Mediterranean.

Any recreational boat coming from abroad intending to call, anchor or stop in French internal or territorial waters must declare its sanitary situation to the Regional Operational Centre for Surveillance and Rescue in the Mediterranean (CROSS-Med).

Similarly, all vessels, regardless of their flag, must report to CROSS-Med any suspected or confirmed case of COVID-19 on board a vessel. More generally, at sea, CROSS and semaphores are the ships' interlocutors for any abnormal situation.

After several weeks of inactivity for crews and yachtsmen, and therefore a period without checking and routine maintenance of the equipment, the Maritime Prefecture recommends that before going out to sea, you should proceed to :

  • checking his physical fitness.
  • checking the general condition of the vessel (engine, sails, anchorage, etc.) ;
  • compliance and condition of mandatory safety equipment ;
  • control of the ability to manoeuvre;
  • verification of the reception conditions at the port of destination.
