Yamaha Motor accelerates its digital strategy by establishing a subsidiary in Finland

Yamaha Motor is continuing the digital transformation of its marine business.

The Japanese group has announced the creation of a new company, Yamaha Motor Connected Innovation (YMCI), based in Finland. This subsidiary will be responsible for designing digital platforms and connected solutions for the boating and marine leisure sector, a market where demand for digital services is growing rapidly.

With this in mind, Yamaha Motor has finalised the acquisition of fleet management software and intellectual property rights from Skipperi, a young Finnish company specialising in recreational boating technology.

Already a partner of Yamaha since 2023, Skipperi has made a name for itself with solutions that enable yacht clubs to offer boat rentals on a subscription basis. Its app makes it easier to book boats, access ports and plan sea trips, helping to democratise boating.

These operations are part of Yamaha Marine's CASE (Connected, Autonomous, Shared, Electric) strategy, which aims to strengthen its position in a changing global market. Ultimately, the group intends to develop an integrated fleet management model, combining digital technologies and new services to optimise the customer experience.
