Every detail of the boat can now be configured online, with real-time rendering that provides an immediate visualisation of the choices made. Deck, keel, upholstery, interior layout: everything is modular, in an interface that combines precision, fluidity and ergonomics. This configurator is both functional and fun, designed to help sailors build a project that reflects their desires and sailing habits.
On the exterior, the possibilities are endless. The choice of deck covering – Flexiteck, natural wood or non-slip surface – is complemented by options for the colour of the antifouling, the design of the wheel and even the height of the keel. The Dufour 48 can also be fitted with a bimini, a hard top or a standard version, and the cockpit upholstery can also be customised.
However, the configuration does not stop at the visible equipment.
The interior layout can be entirely tailored to the preferences of the future owners. The saloon is available with a forward or side galley, allowing immediate visualisation of both layouts thanks to instant 3D visualisation. Several sleeping arrangements are available: in the bow, you can opt for an owner's suite with a central bed and two bathrooms, or two separate cabins. In the stern, the options range from an office space to a pullman cabin, storage areas or an additional bathroom.
Once all the options have been selected, users can save their configuration for future reference or modification. The file is also sent to a local Dufour expert, who will then contact the customer to assist with the rest of the project, from finalising the choices to launching the boat.
The configurator was designed to accompany the launch of the Dufour 48, but it is also part of a broader strategy. It will gradually be rolled out on the brand's future models, including the highly anticipated Dufour 54 scheduled for 2025-2026. The aim is to offer every boater an interface that allows them to bring their nautical project to life in just a few clicks, with a high degree of realism and freedom.
Analysis - With this approach, Dufour Yachts is reinforcing its commitment to making customisation an essential part of its offering. Accessible on all types of devices, the configurator is designed to support the digital transformation of the sector and respond to growing demand for custom-designed boats. The La Rochelle-based shipyard is also taking a clear lead over its competitors, who are lagging behind in this area.
