Announced at the world premiere of Actunautique last May, the future Lagoon 38 is beginning to reveal itself, with three initial visuals released by the French brand, a subsidiary of the Bénéteau Group.

Designed by naval architects VPLP, the Lagoon 38 will have the task of representing the brand against the likes of Bali Catsmart, Excess 11 (a Groupe Bénéteau cousin), Aventura 37 and C-Cat 37.

Suffice to say, it's going to be a tight race, as the range has matured since the heyday of the Lagoon 380, when the youngest of the French shipyards was fairly alone on the market.

Succeeding the Lagoon 380 is a big challenge for the future Lagoon 38, which has decided to change everything, with a semi-flybridge model, a fairly high boom and a raised helm station, while Excess and Bali have opted for low booms, 2 helm stations aft of the hulls and no raised sundeck.

In terms of styling, the Lagoon 38 follows in the footsteps of the Lagoon 43, with a more protected aft cockpit that does not feature the side doors of its big brother.

The style of the stern cap, much slimmer than on the brand's previous models, suggests that the counter-moulds have disappeared, for less weight and reduced cost (a cost-cutting exercise?). If this type of construction choice were to be found elsewhere on the model, then surely the Lagoon 38 would be offered at a rather aggressive price.... compared to the trends of the last 4 years, we understand.

According to our information, the Lagoon 38 will be offered in 3- and 4-cabin versions, with the corollary question of the number of head compartments, between 2 and 4, still unanswered...

Presentation scheduled for the Salon du Multicoque 2025 in La Grande Motte.
