Beneteau Oceanis 47: a sailing boat designed for long-distance cruising

Unveiled as a world premiere at the 2025 Cannes Yachting Festival, the Oceanis 47 embodies the new generation of cruisers from the Bénéteau shipyard. This mid-range model, designed for offshore sailing, offers a technical compromise based on user feedback and is designed to optimise space, performance and comfort on board.

The exterior design of the Bénéteau Oceanis 47 is the result of a collaboration between Finot-Conq, responsible for the naval architecture, and Nauta Design for the interior layout and deck plan. With maximum width at the stern and a pronounced chine, the hull is designed for increased stability under sail, while providing a spacious cockpit.

The latter, closed at the stern, is designed to accommodate up to ten people in a convivial and secure configuration. Technical areas, such as winches and engine controls, are grouped together in close proximity to the helm stations, facilitating manoeuvring with a small crew.

At the stern, the Bénéteau Oceanis 47's access platform to the sea extends the living space. The sunbathing areas and the option of adding an outdoor kitchen demonstrate the attention paid to use at anchor. Modularity is enhanced by removable bimini tops and integrated storage. The whole design is intended to be suitable for both summer sailing and extended stays.

The interior is designed for mixed use: residential comfort and marine functionality.

Three versions are available: three cabins/two bathrooms, four cabins/four bathrooms or five cabins/three bathrooms. In all configurations, the circulation spaces are uncluttered and the volumes generous, with numerous customisation options. The owner's suite in the bow has a central bed, plenty of storage space and large side windows that provide light and ventilation. The saloon, designed as a multifunctional space, is ideal for reading or socialising over a meal. The L-shaped galley, equipped with a Corian worktop, is designed to be durable and ergonomic.

The basic equipment includes a furling mast and self-tacking jib, while the First Line version offers a taller mast and increased sail area, suitable for performance enthusiasts. The helm stations are equipped with 12-inch navigation screens and a full range of instruments for easy steering, regardless of the configuration chosen.

The Bénéteau Oceanis 47 has an overall length of 14.60 metres and a beam of 4.50 metres. Its light displacement is announced at 10,981 kg. The standard draught is 2.47 metres (long version), and the whole is powered by a 57 horsepower engine. The fresh water capacity is 370 litres, compared to 195 litres for fuel.

Three interior colour schemes are available: Sunset, Pacific and Ivory, offering palettes ranging from Mediterranean terracotta to pure whites and natural beige tones. This diversity allows the interior atmosphere to be tailored to the buyer's profile.

Launched alongside the Bénéteau Oceanis 52, the Bénéteau Oceanis 47 marks a milestone in the renewal of the Oceanis range, which began in 2025. It is the latest in forty years of evolution for this iconic line from the Vendée-based shipyard, which seeks to combine ease of use, robustness and perceived quality. Designed in Givrand, the model illustrates the manufacturer's desire to streamline production while meeting the expectations of different market segments, from private ownership to chartering.

Without being overly ambitious or superfluous, the Oceanis 47 is aimed at those who see the sea as a living space as much as a playground. With its controlled performance and thoughtful layout, this sailboat completes a range geared towards semi-offshore cruising and confirms the shipyard's positioning in the intermediate segment of 45- to 50-foot boats.
