The E1 World Championship is a nautical sport in a class of its own, and a forerunner of a development that seems unavoidable: the decarbonisation of offshore racing, with units powered by electric propulsion. 9 mixed teams are taking part in this world championship, aboard amazing foilers, veritable little bombs with monstrous acceleration (50 knots top speed, for 150kW of power and 35 kWh batteries), and surprising silence!

The world championship calendar is organised around 6 races, which take place in Jeddah, Venice, Marbella, Monaco, Rotterdam and Hong Kong.

As the only speed championship on the water with an emphasis on marine conservation and ecological sailing, the philosophy of the E1 was perfectly aligned with the vision of the company founded by Francis Lapp in Gdansk, and which stands out in the yachting world with its Sunreef Yachts Eco range of electric yachts.

With a team of ambassadors including celebrities from the world of sport and show business, the E1 focuses on entertainment and sustainability. The E1 series creates partnerships, raises awareness and takes concrete action. Organisers collaborate on coastal habitat restoration initiatives and create content to teach children about the importance of ocean health. In order to accelerate the development of electric technologies, E1 will also propose to install charging stations at each venue to promote the electric transition among yacht users.

Team Rafa's drivers are Cris Lazarraga - European jet ski racing champion in 2019 and world vice-champion in 2021, and Tom Chiappe - an experienced powerboat driver, endurance world champion, SWS 2023 karting world champion and winner of the Rouen 24-hour race in 2016.

Team owner Rafael Nadal has a close relationship with the Sunreef Yachts brand. One of the greatest tennis players in history is an experienced yachtsman and Sunreef catamaran owner.
