The Vendée group, world number two in boating and sailing is looking to strengthen its leadership in the multihull segment by launching a new brand in the market.

Scoop in the Sailing Community - The Bénéteau Group Will Launch a New Brand of Catamarans

Meetings for financial analysts are rich in learning, and during the one organized by Bénéteau on the last June 7 (Bénéteau, Jeanneau, Lagoon, Monte Carlo Yachts, Wellcraft, Four Winns, Scarab and Glastron), an unprecedented scoop in the world of boating, more especially concerning multihulls, was revealed.

On this occasion, the group led by Hervé Gastinel indicated its intention to launch a new brand of catamarans, while the group, with the Lagoon, is already in a position of world leader in this segment amounting to a 650 million turnover for a thousand units which accounts for almost a third of the multihulls sold in the world each year.

Thus, this would complement Lagoon, a range that already has a wealth of a dozen models, and include 39 to 78-foot yachts, and would include, from the day of its launch planned in 2018, several models.

Contacted by the editorial staff of Yachting Art Magazine, the shipyard did not wish to disclose more information about this new brand, whose name still remains a jealously guarded secret.

Decryption – It is difficult to win new market shares, when one already controls nearly 30% of the multihull segment with Lagoon. Thus, starting from this postulate, the Bénéteau group is therefore betting on a new brand, responding to a request to which the market does not respond, or does not respond any more. What positioning should be expected, for what type of units?

The coming months will be exciting with their anticipated new revelations...
